The Western New York Parrothead Club was founded in 1997 by David Cohen, who is still active and currently serves as the President of the club. At it's inception the WNY Club was the 100th chapter sanctioned by the national organization of Jimmy Buffett Phan Clubs, Parrotheads in Paradise, Inc.

Parrot Heads in Paradise, Inc. is a Not-For-Profit Corporation, whose purpose is to assist in community and environmental concerns and provide a variety of social activities for people who are interested in the music of Jimmy Buffett & the tropical lifestyle he personifies.

In keeping with the strong tradition of PHIP, the WNY Parrot Heads are a group of people who not only love Jimmy's music, but believe strongly in giving back to the community and protecting the environment in which we live. The WNY Parrot Heads are very active in the community and encourage that in all members. Over the years, we have adopted two manatee, have run bowl-a-thons to benefit the Alzheimer's Association of Western New York, we work with Riverkeepers to help clean up the Might Niagara River and have organized or participated in fundraisers for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western New York, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer's Association and National MS Society, just to name a few.
